Week 1: The depth of spirituality in our heart

The heart has been defined and described by scholars in reference to different context. In basic anatomy, the heart is defined as a hollow muscular organ in vertebrates that pumps blood received from the veins into the arteries, thereby maintaining the flow of blood through the

entire circulatory system.

It is also described as the vital center and source of one’s being, emotions and sensibilities.

The repository of one’s deepest and sincerest feeling and beliefs; the seat of the intellect or imagination.

It has the capacity for sympathy, generosity, compassion, love and affection, courage, resolution and fortitude.

But how do we nurture our heart with intellect towards the path of spirituality and strengthening our relationship with God?

Week 2: The strong heart anchored through God

The heart has been singled out for this because it is the core of the body, and through the purification of the core, the rest becomes purified, and with its corruption they become corrupted.

The heart is mentioned several times in the Qur’an either in reference to itself or to the chest that contains it.

For example, the capacity of the heart to reason and understand our feelings and experiences in life. A sound heart requires an interaction through the Quran by reflecting it’s verses and connecting deeply through the prophetic stories.
